Pat Riley afviser rygter om handel med Tyler Hierro

The Miami Heat have been linked to Damian Lillard all summer, with Tyler Herro being one of the players rumored to be in the mix. However, the Heat stuck to their original position and are now looking at making Herro a star. Team president Pat Riley even dismissed reports that they purchased the young guard in the offseason.

In an interview with Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, Riley addressed the Lillard trade saga that plagued the team in the offseason. He explained that no one is untouchable as long as they have a player like Dahm. However, he denied ever buying Shiloh over the summer.

"We never bought him or had any interest in trading him," Riley said. "But when you talk about acquiring one of the top five players in the league, there's nobody on our team that wouldn't be discussed."

The Miami Heat failed to acquire Damian Lillard, who was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal with the Phoenix Suns. The Heat were unwilling to meet the demands of the Portland Trail Blazers, so they must now compete against potentially weaker teams from last year in the loaded Eastern Conference.

Despite the lack of significant improvement, Pat Riley remains confident in his team this season. Riley also hinted that they are fully invested in Tyler Hierro, hoping he becomes the next star after Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

"In order to win, our team and our three best players need that mentality - most importantly Jimmy, Bam and Tyler," Riley said. "They're the guys that we really look to, the guys that get paid, and they have to have the best years of their careers to impact winning. So, whatever it is, scoring, rebounding, assists, not turnovers, defensively, whatever it is ...... that's what it takes."

Tyler Shiloh happy to stay in Miami

When Tyler Shilo's name was linked to the Damian Lillard trade, he was on his way out of the Miami Heat. Shiloh's trade value took a hit when rumors that other teams didn't see him as a star affected him both positively and negatively.

Ultimately, however, the Wisconsin native is happy to stay in South Beach and continue his career with the Heat. He looks forward to reminding everyone how good he is and why he should be ranked as one of the top young players in the league.

"I'm ecstatic. Ecstatic, really," Herro said. "My family's here, my kids, my (friends) live in Miami. Came here with me from Milwaukee, everything is in Miami. If I get traded, Miami will still be my home at the end of my career."

Shilo contributed 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game last season. He was a key part of the Heat's core and is expected to play an even bigger role this season.
